Kaurilan Sauna

Kaurilan Sauna began as a public courtyard sauna in Helsinki, whose natural cosmetics line grew out of a search for guest products good enough to offer on-site; the sauna itself later closed, but the cosmetics business (Kaurilan Sauna Oy) continued and has grown into one of Finland’s larger natural cosmetics manufacturers, still handmade in Helsinki’s Pitäjänmäki district. It markets its products as natural, vegan, and cruelty-free, and describes its peat as hand-extracted from a natural-state Finnish bog using hand tools alone, with the landscape restored afterward and nothing added to or removed from the raw material. The company also retails other Finnish peat brands, including Osmia, alongside its own line.
