This is observational evidence only — no randomisation, relatively small sample. But it is the most direct evidence in the review that the in vitro pharmacology translates to clinical benefit in real patients.
Proposed Indications
Wollina proposes several potential dermatological indications that are not yet backed by controlled trials: rosacea (combining the UVB-protective and α2-adrenergic receptor modulation effects), candidal intertrigo (antimicrobial + anti-inflammatory), and post-peeling antiviral prophylaxis (antiviral activity against HSV, relevant given post-peel reactivation risk). These are mechanistic proposals, not proven treatments.
