About
Nukula is a family-run wellness and accommodation business on the shore of Lake Päijänne, on the border of Jyväskylä and Toivakka in Central Finland. The farm’s recorded history goes back to 1842, and the business has held Green Key certification since 2019.
Its peat sauna (turvesauna) is one of six sauna services. Guests wash, warm up in the sauna, then spread peat over the body and hair and go back into the sauna for about 20 minutes, at no more than 60 °C, before washing the peat off with clean water. Sessions are for groups of four to ten, depending on the sauna, and take about two hours, with tea afterwards. The peat sauna is booked on request rather than through the online shop.
