About
LehtoPeat Hoitola is the treatment room of LehtoPeat Oy, a peat producer that lifts its treatment peat from its own bog, Lehtosuo, in Ähtäri. The bog lies about 200 metres above sea level on a watershed, so no runoff water flows into it. The main site at Meijeritie 13 houses the treatment room, production and a shop, and the company also runs a Suo Spa at Saarijärventie 964 with a wood-heated barrel sauna and a cold spring.
Treatments include a peat poultice with massage, in which peat at about 40 °C is spread on the back, shoulders, thighs and calves (about 60 minutes); a full-body peat treatment of 1.5 to 2 hours; a peat foot treatment; and a peat sauna. Bookings are taken online or by phone. The company’s founder, Heikki Ruha, has worked in the peat business for more than 30 years, and the Lehtosuo treatment peat trademark was registered in 2002. LehtoPeat also supplies a wider network of independent treatment providers across Finland that use its peat.
