About
Moorheilbad Harbach in Lower Austria opened on 29 June 1980 as a purpose-built moor spa and works with Austria’s social insurance institutions. It is classed as a specialised hospital (Sonderkrankenanstalt), and about 450 people work there.
Its moor comes from the Harbach raised bog (Harbacher Hochmoor). According to Lower Austria’s official tourism site, it is extracted near the Filzwiese clearing on the trail up the Nebelstein. The moor is used in two ways: as full moor baths, given at 38–42 °C depending on the prescription, and as cold moor wraps applied at 4–8 °C.
