About

Aurora is one of the two spa houses of Slatinné lázně Třeboň, the spa company of the town of Třeboň. It opened on 7 November 1975 and now has 666 beds in 339 rooms, in a 42-hectare park beside the Svět fishpond. Spa care here can be covered by Czech public health insurance.

The peat (slatina) is dug two to three times a year at Stará Borkovna, in the forest about 4 km from the spa, heated to 38–39 °C and piped directly to the tubs; used peat goes to a storage site 3 km away to return to nature. Aurora uses it as a peat bath (slatinná koupel), a mixture of peat and water at 37–38 °C for 15 minutes, and as a thicker peat wrap (slatinný zábal) at 40 °C. Both are followed by a shower and a rest in a dry wrap. All 18 of Aurora’s peat bathrooms were renovated in 2024.
