Ireland
Ireland has extensive peatland resources but no balneological tradition in the Central European sense. Irish peat has entered the cosmetics market primarily through skincare brands marketing it as a natural, high-organic ingredient. Claims include “highest organic content of all bogs in the world” and high antioxidant content.
Academic analysis (Limerick Institute of Technology) confirmed the presence of fulvic acids, humic acids, and minerals with antioxidant properties. However, no published analytical chemistry with HA/FA percentages exists — current claims are marketing-oriented rather than evidence-based.
Irish peat cosmetics focus on the premium/luxury end of the market. The absence of published composition data and clinical evidence is a significant gap compared to Estonian and Finnish peat.
