Canada has vast Sphagnum peatlands, particularly in Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec. Canadian peat is primarily known in the cosmetic/therapeutic space as a source material for fulvic acid extraction rather than for whole-peat balneotherapy. There is no European-style peat bath tradition.

Key research: Yamada et al. (2007) demonstrated that fulvic acid extracted from Canadian Sphagnum peat inhibits mast cell degranulation and histamine release — one of the most cited antiallergic mechanism studies in the field. This study established Canadian peat-derived FA as a reference material for antiallergic research.

Commercial fulvic acid products derived from Canadian peat deposits are marketed globally as dietary supplements and topical ingredients. The focus is on extracted compounds rather than whole-peat applications.
